The Science of Aging Last week HandyPro of Central Ohio was proud to join with HandyPro of the Valley and HandyPro of Northwest Ohio to sponsor the 39th Annual Conference of the Ohio Association of Gerontology and Education (OAGE). Hosted by Bowling Green State University the conference highlights gerontology research, aging service programs and geriatric education. We specialize in home modifications that allow seniors to age safely and comfortably in their homes, and we spend a lot of time with practical solutions to accessibility challenges facing seniors. The conference of peer reviewed research was certainly a little more academic than we are used to but the conference gave us exposure to the latest research on the needs of the elderly and many helpful resources that we can pass along to our clients. My favorite take-away was a fall prevention program provided by the Ohio Department of Aging. Another exciting element of the conference was the number of young people both attending the conference and presenting papers. It’s great to see this interest from our next generation of leaders in caring for our elders.
